ChateauStJean

If you've ever had a chance to visit Chateau St. Jean to taste their wine, you can probably imagine how well wine, art, and a garden-like settings would make for an unforgettable experience. As the grape harvest season comes to a close and the rains start their yearly cycle, don't forget the warm, inviting tasting rooms of Chateu St. Jean. Come see the sweeping views of the hills re-greened from newly fallen rain. And, after a little tasting, I encourage you to take a stroll across the courtyard to the historical vineyard estate home where I have hung beautiful floral pieces alongside scenes of the vineyard, Tuscany, and Sonoma County. I will be showing and selling pieces through December 31st, 2010. Come by soon the Chateau St. Jean (as pictured above), enjoy the art, wine, and soothing gardens.

Brasserie at the Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel - Santa Rosa, CA

Brasserie-booth_photo_1_copyThe Vineyard Creek Hotel, now owned by Hyatt, is Santa Rosa's newest, most luxurious accommodation. Modeled after a Tuscan villa, the hotel's romance and charm enchants guests as they venture out into the beautiful vineyards and tasting rooms. The builders  of the hotel attended to every detail, from the stone entryway to the selection of art on the walls. From its opening in 2002 to  early 2010, the hotel restaurant, The Brasserie, featured several photographs by Jane Baron, printed and framed with the same attention to detail, charm, and romance as the hotel itself. Images of oak trees in mustard fields and charming porticoes of Provence greeted guests with a visual appetizer for their day of exploration and wine tasting. One ponders if business travellers stayed an extra day to see the sights themselves, inspired by the images hanging on the walls. We certainly hope so!

The Guest Rooms

In addition to gracing the walls of the Brasserie, photographs by Jane Baron also found their way to each of the guest rooms where they can still be found today. A recent visit to their website shows imagery of these rooms, including the art on the walls. For more information on this hotel visit vineyardcreek.hyatt.com.

Jane Baron Photography at Sutter Hospital, Santa Rosa, CA

For the next couple months I will be showing work in the rooms and hallways of Sutter Hospital in Santa Rosa. The exhibit is an example of how art can have a positive impact in a hospital setting. Patients feel relaxed by the calming landscapes and staff have time to "smell the roses" before rushing off to the next case. Although you may only see this show by coincidence, you may be interested in setting up your own show at your workplace. Feel free to drop a line to discuss artwork rental plans: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Twenty-five years ago Sonoma County artists opened their studios to an art-loving public audience for two weekends in October. Known today as ARTrails, it continues to give people from all ages and walks of life a chance to see what Sonoma County artists are doing in the context of their creative environments. On behalf of all the artists, help us celebrate this year by taking to the road on a weekend in October and enjoying the local beauty of Sonoma County's countryside and resident artists. A commemorative poster will be available at my studio featuring the tagline "ARTrails Revealed."ARTrails-Revealed-Poster

This year I will be showing a variety of works you see here in my web gallery, including touching imagery of old Salgal's last days and several works called "photo illustration," an emerging style to evoke imagination and symbolism in a thoughtful and original way.

it is with great pleasure to welcome you to this years ARTrails experience. In the past year I have been busy behind the camera, out in the field, and in the studio creating some of the most inspiring and defining imagery for our wildly changing times. I take you to today's Yunnan province of China where local culture has witnessed severe changes and challengs in a global economic transition, a transformation from an ancient lifestyle to a new modern norm. My photos capture what is left of this ancient way of life and seeks to recognize a vanishing beauty. I welcome you to take a stroll through the photographers eye in an enchanted land.
